Pigments

I finally caved and placed an order (a tiny one, just five samples - I'm being frugal!) from Inaz Cosmetics. They have some absolutely incredible pigments, and I'm supporting a Texas company. Whoop!

As I wear eyeshadow about once a year, I went ahead and dove straight into the glittery "Glam" line.

Their color choices are incredible, and my picture is not doing justice to just how incredibly bright these guys are. Especially the one on the left that just looks silver. That's Glam Rock, and is this incredible holographic glitter. It's completely a see-to-believe color. I will be sporting these proudly on nail designs in the very near future!

Going Green

There's a whole going green craze sweeping the country. Somehow, I think they may be doing it differently than I am!

Glacier

The official numbers are in the mid-90's. The feels-like are in triple digits, and that's not likely to change anytime soon. Luckily I have an air conditioner that keeps up with the demands being placed on it - but it doesn't change how miserable it is to walk outside. The heat is draining, and removes the fun of summer themes - so I've just changed it up a bit. Forget watermelons, I'm dreaming of icicles!

A Texas picnic

Down here in Texas, you know you're having a picnic not by fun, friends and food - but by the number of ants ;)

It's official, I have an addiction

I think a 12-step program may be in order. In the meantime, though, FUN! :))

For the first time since this whole nail art obsession began, I paid full-price for one of the big name polishes.

This is OPI's "Not Like the Movies" It's almost a dull gray, but it has shimmer - a bit of pink, a hint of green. I love this color. _Love_ it. I want to use it as a background for a monochrome floral design, or some fun stamps - but I just haven't convinced myself I want to cover any of the color yet. Just look how well it matches my iPod. It was meant to be.

Ok I changed my mind. I covered it. Now my nails match my iPod. Does that make me cool, or what? Ok so it's probably 'or what', and it just makes me really rather strange, but I'm doing well to have my socks match on a regular basis, so to me this is super.

Yeah, back to the whole idea of putting off joining that 12-step program...

Patriotic

Hope everybody had a fantastic 4th of July!

We had batted around the idea of heading down to Galveston to watch the fireworks show, but got sidetracked and when we thought about it there wouldn't have been time to make it to the island and park. So needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised when as we were about to dish up dinner we started hearing telltale pops and crackles, and looked outside (figuring it was kids in the parking lot) to see a full-fledged display out over the lake. It was a pretty darn nice display for being a show put on by the subdivision, and we had awesome seats - walk down 2 buildings and sit on a grassy slope for an uncrowded view. The 'drive' home was pretty quick and easy, too ;)   It was nice to not only get my pyromaniac fix watching stuff explode, but feel patriotic doing it!

And not only that, I was all decorated for the occasion - Robin Moses style! Patriotic skulls, with red white & blue ribbons.

Today's brilliant idea

I'm going to write a nail art book. This isn't a 'one day' thing like the story I've had percolating in the back of my mind for a few years, now. I'm getting started.

Florals

I've had lots of fun doing the occasional challenges. I've even put out requests for some to do in the future, and I'll get around to them, I swear!

Upcoming will be Labyrinth nails (from the movie), Harry Potter (in time for the last movie release!), and Nintendo nails - Mario, Zelda, or MegaMan. I have a feeling I'm going to have an absolute blast with them.

Pretty soon, I intend to get a set of plastic false nails attached to sticks which will allow me to paint on scenes and then display them for anyone I'm doing nails for to browse then pick out what design they'd like applied. I figure this will solve two purposes - let me do a semi-ornate design NOT on my own finger (this simplifies things!), and give me a template to follow for a guideline. Because when I'm freehanding a design, it tends to fall almost invariably into one of two designs -  flowers, or flying insects. Generally insects with flowers.
